You know those moments of embarrassment in your life that stick with you? They take up permanent residence in your brain, and for the most part they are quiet, forgotten tenants, but when they get free, usually set off by a small encounter in your everyday life, they replay in great detail, allowing shame to flow through your veins.  

Against my better judgement, I’m going to tell you about one such moment.
