The combined New Lenox Chamber of Commerce and the Mokena Chamber of Commerce Expo has been canceled because of coronavirus concerns.

Emily Johnson, CEO of the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce sent an email Thursday, March 12 evening, with the cancelation of the event.

She stated in the email that the decision came based on "direction from the CDC, Department of Public Health, and State, local and school district officials."

Johnson and Melissa Fedora, Mokena Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, hope to move forward at some point with the collaborative event, but the health of the community is of "upmost importance."

Her email also stated that both chambers are working together to form a contingency plan for the exhibitors and more information will be made available "soon."
