Are you one of those people who wince in dread when you’re at a performance, and the performers suddenly start looking out into the crowd for an audience participant?

Their eyes comb across the rows, looking for their victim. Did they just look at you? Your hands start to sweat, and terror courses through your body.

Well, I’m looking at you right now. But relax.

You don’t have to do anything embarrassing or potentially dangerous in front of a large crowd. All I’m asking you to do is write about your mom.

That’s right.
