UPDATE: Two new attached photos that show the suspects in jackets and masks in the New Lenox incidents

A New Lenox man was reportedly abducted at gunpoint in his driveway around 6 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, according to a press release from the Will County Sheriff’s Office received on Monday, Dec. 2, three days after the incident happened.

The abduction happened in the northeast part of New Lenox Township, Will County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said.

The man was found safe in Indiana at 11:08 a.m. on Nov. 29.

The release states that after speaking with family members and an initial investigation, it was determined the man was leaving for work at the time of his abduction.

Police learned that four male black subjects wearing ski masks, directed the victim at gunpoint into an SUV and the men made several stops at stores and used his bankcard, according to the release.

A release issued on Tuesday, Dec. 3 stated the men were also wearing bright yellow/orange construction vests, winter coats and hats, and one suspect was wearing a winter glove. Police said the suspects entered the stores at the self-checkout line, made multiple small purchases and got cash back in $50 or $100 increments using the victims' bankcards. It occurred in at least three stores, police said.

Frankfort police also reported a similar incident on Nov. 16 when a woman was abducted at gunpoint at an ATM and forced to access her accounts for cash. She was driven around with the three men for three hours, who also made stops and used her bankcards. She was also unharmed and dropped off in Chicago with her vehicle.

The release states sheriff’s detectives think that the suspects in the New Lenox case were masked while they were inside the stores doing individual gift card transactions to avoid a fraud alert.

Sheriff’s detectives and Frankfort police think the two incidents are related, the release states.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office and the Frankfort PD are asking residents to be extra cautious of their surroundings while detectives continue their investigation.
