Members of a  New Lenox family have made it their mission to help create a better life for the animals at the Cache Creek Animal Shelter in Joliet.

Karen Humphries and daughters Brooke, 6, and Bridget, 10, spend two to four days a week donating their time, love, money and supplies to the cats and dogs that call the shelter home.
