With spring upon us, many people will begin the annual spring cleaning to clear out old junk from garages and basements. For most, the old junk is thrown away, donated or recycled; but for Joseph Rauen, that junk gets a new life in music.

For the next month, that new life will be on display at the Union Street Gallery in Chicago Heights, as Rauen features more than 30 different pieces in his exhibition about the intersection between music and art, called “Unknown Musical Objects.”
